Description

MOTOREX CHAINWAX is an innovative high-performance chain lubricant developed on the basis of a wax/water emulsion. Its biodegradable, solvent-free formulation penetrates even the smallest gaps between chain links thanks to its excellent creeping ability and relatively thin consistency. There, the water content evaporates, leaving behind a dry, durable wax film. This film greatly reduces chain friction and minimizes dust and dirt adhesion. As a result, the drivetrain runs whisper-quiet and the shifting feels silky-smooth and precise. It also remains visually clean even after rides, almost as if it had just come straight out of the box. Most importantly, MOTOREX CHAINWAX ensures maximum power transfer, significantly reduces wear, and provides impressively long component life.

ATTENTION

MOTOREX CHAINWAX is a water-based chain wax and is not compatible with conventional oil-based chain lubricants. Before using it for the first time, the entire drive train (including cassette, chainrings, and derailleur pulleys) must be thoroughly and completely cleaned and degreased! After riding in the rain, the chain should be wiped dry with a cloth to prevent surface rust. MOTOREX CHAINWAX is sensitive to frost and must not be stored below 5° Celsius. Also make sure that the chain wax is only applied at temperatures above +5°C and that the bike or chain itself is not colder. This is the only way to ensure that the wax is distributed evenly, penetrates optimally, and the water content can then evaporate. Once hardened, MOTOREX CHAINWAX naturally delivers its full performance – even in frosty conditions.

Field of application

MOTOREX CHAINWAX is ideal for grease-free chain lubrication when performance and cleanliness are the main priorities under dry conditions.

Application

1. Important: Before the first application of MOTOREX CHAINWAX, degrease and clean the entire drivetrain (including cassette, chainrings, and derailleur pulleys) thoroughly. Use MOTOREX BIKE CHAIN DEGREASER and follow its application instructions.
2. If stubborn grease or dirt residues remain after several cleaning cycles, remove the chain and place it in a clean, empty glass. Spray a sufficient amount of MOTOREX BIKE CHAIN DEGREASER into the container and swirl the chain for several minutes. Remove the chain, let the cleaner drain off, dry it with a lint-free cloth, reinstall it, and ensure it is completely dry.
3. Shake the CHAINWAX bottle well and apply it in three passes to the inner side of the chain while turning the crank backward: once on the center of the chain rollers and once on each narrow side of the chain plates. This ensures optimal coverage.
4. Apply sparingly to avoid dripping, ensuring the entire chain length is evenly wetted. If necessary, repeat for two more chain revolutions.
5. Rotate the crank several times after applying, making use of the chain’s cross-running to distribute the still-fluid wax evenly between the links.
6. Allow the wax to dry for several hours—ideally overnight. Once the water component has evaporated, a dry wax layer remains that lubricates and repels dirt.

Repeat the application after the first ride and after riding in the rain, as water gradually washes away the wax emulsion. A pre-waxed chain can be re-waxed without prior degreasing. If cleaning is necessary, a mild standard cleaner (e.g., MOTOREX BIKE CLEAN) suffices. Always reapply CHAINWAX afterward to prevent corrosion.

This not only means no more black, sticky and dirty chains but also marks the end of laborious chain cleaning and inevitable messy fingers.

Description and composition

The wax is made from renewable raw materials, is more than 80 per cent biodegradable and is free from volatile organic compounds (VOCs). It offers excellent penetration capability and high wear protection. 

Chains lubricated with MOTOREX CHAINWAX stay clean for long periods – and are easier to clean than chains with oily lubricants. What’s more, because much less dust and dirt sticks to the chain, coloured chains look better for longer.

Aside from its long-lasting effectiveness, the high-performance chain wax also offers anti-static and water-repelling properties thanks to its dry wax film. \

Optimal Application

To profit fully of the potential of the MOTOREX CHAINWAX, follow the following application procedure:

1. Ensure drivetrain (cassette, chain, derailleurs, sprocket) is completely dry and free of grease before first use.
2. Clean new chains thoroughly with MOTOREX BIKE CHAIN DEGREASER.
3. Shake MOTOREX CHAINWAX well before use.
4. Apply MOTOREX CHAINWAX to both the inside and outside of the dry chain.

You can rewax the chain multiple times without the need for additional cleaning. Optimal application temperature is above 5°C.
