How to Choose Brompton Bike

HOW TO FIND THE RIGHT FIT

Choosing Your Handlebar

There are three handlebar types, offering different riding positions for varying heights of rider and riding styles.

Low
(Previously known as S Type)

Straight profile.
Ride position: Sporty for average to tall riders. Neutral position for shorter owners.

Mid
(Previously known as M Type)

Riser profile.
Ride position: Neutral/relaxed position for average to tall riders. A more sit-up position for shorter riders.

High
(Previously known as H Type)

Riser profile with a stem (for extra height).
Ride position: Neutral for taller riders. Upright for small or average height owners – similar in style to a traditional Dutch bike.

Choosing Your Saddle Height

Every Brompton sold online is fitted with an Extended seatpost, as this fits most riders. Riders with smaller inside leg measurements can still select taller options and use them at a lower setting.

Standard

For an inside leg of 84 cm / 33" and under.

Brompton's lightest and shortest seatpost.

Extended

For an inside leg of 84 – 89 cm / 33 – 35”.
Offers an additional 60 mm of elevation but leaves the saddle correspondingly higher when folded.

Telescopic

For an inside leg of over 90cm / 35”.
Offers up to 175 mm more elevation than a standard post but the saddle only projects 20 mm above the folded package.
